On Sunday, Reese Byers Sunday Around the Rings Photos and Results at the 2022 Nutrena AQHA West Level 1 Championship Show had just finished winning the championship in Rookie Youth Western Pleasure with Ill B At The Bar when she learned she had also won Rookie Youth High Point at the 2022 Nutrena AQHA West Level 1 Championship Show!
She says the show has been great for her on Troy, a horse she received September 10th for her birthday. “I got to do both the Rookie and the Level 1, which was a lot of fun,” she explains. “The Rookie division exceeded my expectations; I didn’t expect to place that high.” Earlier in the show, Reese grabbed the top spot in the Rookie Western Riding, but she was already showing in L1 Youth Western Pleasure when she found out. “I missed my victory lap in the Western Riding, and that was my first time showing that event ever,” she says. “In the Pleasure today, Troy was definitely tired, and he honestly fought through it, and I was so proud of him; he is amazing.”
Not long before Reese heard her good high point news, Abby Hokana performed a winning pattern in L1 Youth Walk Trot Horsemanship with her buddy, Remenic N Poco, also known as Remi. “My pattern was good and fun, and I liked it a lot!” Abby says. She explains she’s had Remi for 11 years, and she’s been riding him ever since, beginning back when she was just a baby. “I like him because he’s fun to ride,” she says, and afterward, Remi was going to receive some apple treats for his great performance.
