Straight Up Dirty Begins His Journey as Full Time Sire

Straight Up Dirty will be embarking on a new journey now that the 2024 AQHA World Championship Show has concluded.

The 2020 Black AQHA 15.3 champion stallion by The Best Martini and out of Another Certain Vino was one of the favorite up and coming stallions last time The Equine Chronicle polled readers on social media!
“We love that he has such a great fan base that supported and followed him over the last two years,” says Jen Smith, who co-owns “Jake” with Seth Dawson. It had been their plan all along to show Jake his three and four-year-old years and then retire him to stud, and he definitely made his mark in those two show seasons.

The recent Reserve Congress Championship in Performance Halter Stallions speaks volumes about one of the many reasons why Jake has such a great following. “Being built right matters!” says Jen. “ We hear many accomplished horsemen and successful breeders preach this! For a horse’s health, longevity, and soundness, good conformation is very important. We feel that Jake checks a lot of boxes in that regard, he possesses many of the exceptional qualities from each family in his breeding.”
In addition, Jake’s personality is a huge plus for mare owners. “His trainer, Kenny Lakins, has mentioned many times what an easy horse he is to prepare, and what a quiet horse he is during travel and at the shows. It’s also impressive that he has been equally successful in the show pen with three different riders.”
Jake is currently standing at Richland Ranch under the expert care of Karen Boxell, and he’s already there after a successful AQHA World Show.

Karen is the contact for breeding contract and shipping questions, and Jake will be available to the U.S. and Canadian markets for the 2025 breeding season. His early booking stud fee of $1,500 is good until November 30, 2024.
As of December 1st his stud fee is $1,800, with considerations for multiple mares and for accomplished mares that have had a lot of success in the show pen or as producers.

Straight Up Dirty is also paid up in the NSBA BCF and BCF Color and the SIF, Premier Sires, Super Sires, Iowa Breeder’s Futurity, and future plans are to enroll him in the APHA Breeders Trust and the APPsolute Sires programs in 2025, and others are being considered.
