SS Wrecking Ball and Alex Dorsey Take First Horse Show Win At Congress in Amateur Performance Stallions

Alex Dorsey of Powell, Ohio, has owned SS Wrecking Ball for several years now before showing him in today’s Amateur Performance Halter Stallions class.

“We bought him as a yearling from the reining sale in Oklahoma, and we’ve had him ever since!” says Dorsey.

SS Wrecking Ball, known as Diesel around the barn, is a reigning horse who is typically shown by Ben Beckett.

“He’s the sweetest horse in the world,” says Dorsey. “He’s just amazing!”

Due to his reining build, Dorsey thought SS Wrecking Ball might do well in halter when he made the decision to try showing in this type of class.

While Dorsey’s wife and kids are no stranger to showing, for Dorsey himself, this isn’t just his first Congress Championship title, or even his first time competing at Congress. In fact, it’s his first time horse showing – ever.

“He’s also a reining horse, so he’s built big. I thought I’d show him, and this is the first time I’ve shown a horse—ever. And now we’re champions!” says Dorsey.

With such a strong start to their partnership in the halter classes, we asked Dorsey what his next plans are for showing together. “I didn’t think we were going to win, so I have no idea what’s next for us just yet!”

While no plans are set right now, Dorsey says he’s excited to make future plans for showing SS Wrecking Ball in the near future, along with more reining shows with Ben Beckett.
