Waco, Texas. – The final fall national team rankings for the National Collegiate Equestrian Association have been released by the NCEA Selection Committee.
South Carolina is the nation’s new No. 1 team, closing its fall slate with a 6-2 overall record and a back-to-back road wins against Auburn and South Dakota State to finish the fall semester.
Auburn in the nation’s No. 2 team with a 6-1 record and three road wins against ranked teams to conclude the fall semester. Baylor checks in at No. 3 with a 5-2 record and is coming off a 10-9 loss to Auburn.
New Mexico State, which has not competed since the last rankings announcement, is 7-2 and ranked No. 4. Kansas State, which ended its fall semester with a 6-3 record and a win against Georgia, is No. 5.
Georgia wrapped up its fall campaign with a 4-2 record falling to Kansas State before winning at TCU, and the Bulldogs are No. 6 in the latest rankings. Oklahoma State, which has not competed since the last rankings announcement, is 2-2 on the year and ranked No. 7.
TCU is ranked No. 8 nationally, finishing its fall season with a 4-3 record, falling to Georgia in its final meet of the semester. Texas A&M checks in at No. 9 with a 2-4 overall record, losing to Auburn in a tiebreaker in the team’s last meet of the semester. SMU, which finished the fall semester 3-6, is No. 10.
NCEA rankings will be released twice per month and will resume again in the spring.
The 2014 NCEA Championships take place April 17-19 in Waco, Texas, marking the first year one championship will be contested, rather than separate championships by disciplines.
