The great athlete, Michael Jordan, once said, “Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships.” When you add true passion for horses and the love of competition to that credo, amazing things can happen. Scott Jones and David Miller of Showstring, located in Boerne, TX, are living proof. These two dynamic business partners have paid their dues and risen through the ranks to become leading competitors, coaches, and trainers in the USEF, NSBA, APHA and AQHA arenas. Each of these sportsmen brings their own area of expertise to the table; but, together, they are turning out World class riders and horses in Hunter Under Saddle, Hunters/Jumpers/Equitation, and Hunter Derbies. Multiple World Champions in their own right, Dave and Scott have won 13 trophies themselves at the AQHA World Championship show in the past 11 years with more than 25 being won by clients in the same time frame.

Although they grew up hundreds of miles apart, Dave and Scott had similar experiences in their youth. Scott grew up in a ranching family on the magnificent 130,000-acre Matador Ranch that’s located 90 miles east of Lubbock, Texas. He recalls, “I’ve been around horses all through my youth, working cattle, riding on the ranch, and showing in the 4-H program. I had a horse that could do every event, and I loved competition. When I graduated high school, I got a job as a horse trainer. My first job was with Harvey Spicer and then with Mark Shaffer where I got some
English riding and found I loved Hunter Under Saddle.”
