PHJ press release by: Rachel Florman
When the time comes to honor the memory of extraordinary horses, some owners choose to celebrate both their Paints and the talents of others via special memorial awards presented at the APHA World Championship Show. If your Paint is eligible, you have the chance to take home a special piece of history.
The following awards are up for grabs at the 2015 APHA World Show:
Sun Princess Award
An engraved champagne carafe will be presented to the world champion Aged Mare. This award is presented in memory of Sun Princess, a three-time world champion halter horse and Honor Roll champion mare in the Open and Amateur divisions; it’s presented by Russell and Valarie Yager and The Rocking G Ranch of Freeport, Michigan.
Scarlet Print Memorial Award
In honor of their 10-time world champion halter horse Scarlet Print, the Jerry Engle family of Bakersfield, California will present an engraved trophy to a Regular Registry mare that wins three world champion halter horse titles in the same year across all three divisions: Youth, Amateur and Open. Only one trophy per year will be awarded; in the case of a tie, the mare with the most first places will receive the award.
