Each of the four equestrian squads of the SEC are ranked among the nation’s top-six teams, according to the latest National Collegiate Equestrian Association national team rankings. South Carolina is the nation’s top-ranked team, while Georgia is No. 2. Texas A&M is ranked No. 4 and Auburn is No. 6.
This will be the third edition of the SEC Equestrian Championship after equestrian became the conference’s 21st sport on June 1, 2012. South Carolina is the two-time defending SEC Equestrian Champion. This will mark the first time that Texas A&M has hosted the SEC Equestrian Championship. The 2014-15 campaign is the first full season of competition in the Hildebrand Equine Complex.
The four current members of the SEC are the only teams in the history of the sport to win NCEA Overall Team National Championships. Georgia has tallied a league-leading six overall NCEA national championships, including three consecutive from 2008-10. Auburn has won three national titles, while South Carolina and Texas A&M each have two overall national titles to their credit. Georgia is the defending NCEA National Champion.
