Rusty Green and For Only Night Only Win Junior Western Pleasure

To those present in the stands this afternoon at the AQHA World Show, Rusty Green’s excitement following his win in Junior Western Pleasure was palpable. In fact, he could hardly contain his excitement and did a mini victory lap when the announcer relayed the news that he had been named the World Champion.

This is certainly not Rusty’s first big win at the World Show, so what made this title so special? “Did you see the class? That class was amazing. A lot of times, you have a really good horse, but then you look around and there are 15 really good horses. So, to be able to show and come out that good is kind of amazing.”

“Sid” has been in Rusty’s barn since the end of his two-year-old year. He’s had many wins at the Quarter Horse Congress and two Reserve Championship titles here at the World Show in 2-Year-Old Western Pleasure and Junior Western Pleasure last year, but this is his first World Championship with Rusty in the Open division.

Just a few weeks ago, at the Quarter Horse Congress, Sid’s new owner, Linda Neece, rode the pretty gelding to place in the top five of the Non Pro Limited Western Pleasure Maturity and the top six of the Non Pro Open Western Pleasure Maturity, an accomplishment Rusty considers to be quite notable considering the newness of this team.

“It was amazing, because that was Linda’s first time to ever show in that set of horses. He did a really good job teaching her how to get through a lot.”

Coming up next, Linda will show Sid tomorrow in the Amateur L2 Western Pleasure.

Third place in the class was Aaron Moses with VS Lady In Red. Fourth was Casey Willis with KM Suddenly So Easy. Fifth was Gil Galyean with Made By J.
