Ross Roark is on a roll this morning during the start of Open Halter classes here at the 2014 AQHA World Championship Show. First, he led Flawles to a win in Yearling Fillies for owners Angela and Harold Ryan. Just last week, Angela’s daughter, Amy, led Flawles to a win in Amateur Yearling Fillies.
Flawles is a sorrel mare by My Intention and out of Imagine Me In First. She was bred by Jim and Georgia Snow of Quinlan, Texas. Although she’s only one year old, this dynamic little filly has quite a resume.
“She’s won the World Show four times already, she has a Reserve World title, she has a bronze World trophy, and she’s just a year old,” Angela Ryan says. “She’s won the Breeders’ Halter Futurity, and she’s won about $47,000 in monies. We are really happy with her. She’s turned out to be everything we thought she would be. We bought her off her momma from Jim and Georgia Snow, and she keeps getting better and better.”
In addition to her exceptional muscling and balanced conformation, Ryan praises her filly’s attitude and ability to stay calm under pressure.
“She is so muscled and has such pretty hocks,” Ryan says. “She just keeps growing consistently. She doesn’t get high in the butt; she just grows all the way around pretty equal. It’s kind of unusual for a horse.”
“Also, she’s very good-minded, so we’re going to keep showing her and maybe one day breed her. Ross Roark fits her, and he loves her too. It’s so easy to get to go to a show and not have to fret over one. She eats and sleeps and does what she is supposed to do, so it takes a whole lot of the stress out of it!
In the Two-Year-Old Geldings class, Roark showed It’s Gameday to a win for owner Frank Berris. The Reserve World Champion in the class was Joe Engle with Be A Gunslinger for Vern Habighorst. Rounding out the top three was Luke Castle with Kids Classic Secret for Josh Weakly.
