Results of 2014 AjPHA/ApHC Youth World Show Judging Contest

Aspiring judges stepped into the hot seat June 29 at the 2014 AjPHA Youth World Championship Show. Putting their discerning eyes to the test, the young judges carefully evaluated class after class of Paints and Appaloosas, marked their cards and defended their placings against those of official judges during the 2014 AjPHA/ApHC Youth Horse Judging Contest, presented by Hart Trailers.
When the dust settled, top-placing horsemen were honored during an awards ceremony on June 30, taking home ribbons, buckles, trophies, scholarships and more. Brent Brewer of Hart Trailers was on hand to present the awards.
The two top Youth judgers each took home a $500 scholarship: Dylan Price of the Illinois IP was the High-Point Senior Individual Overall, earning a score of 682 and winning a tie-breaker with second-place individual, Dean Klahr of Jackson County, Kansas. Jerilyn Nelson of Jackson County, Kansas, scored 575 points to win the High-Point Junior Individual Overall title.
Scoring 2,012 points in the Senior Division, Williamson County 4-H were named High-Point Senior Team Overall. Coached by Lisa Onstot, the team is made up of Lauren Bergman, Sydney Lemanski, Rachel Scott and Aubrey Gibson. The team also placed first in the Senior Performance division.
In the Junior Division, Chouteau Jr. 4-H Team #1 took honors as the contest’s High-Point Junior Team Overall with 1,686 points. Team members include Elizabeth Hokit, Jewel Bibelheimer, Emily Hokit and Connor Pell, and they’re coached by Ray Pell. The team also won the Junior Halter, Performance and Reasons divisions in their sweep of the team categories.
