Today is Day 3 of the 2020 Breeder’s Halter Futurity and the start of the inaugural Mare Power classes at the show. The Mare Power classes involved the enrollment of a mare by March 2020, which made their 2020 foals, sired by Breeders Halter Futurity stallions eligible for the Mare Power Weanling class. Foals sired by all BHF stallions in the Amateur, Open, and Color divisions were eligible for the program.
Two classes will be offered at the show this year- Mare Power Weanling Colts and Geldings and Weanling Fillies. Both boast purses of $50,000 with only a $350 enrollment fee, making all of the mare’s 2020 foals eligible to show. A pretty good deal!
The two Mare Power class Champions have been crowned today.
The winner of the Mare Power Weanling Colts and Geldings class of 37 was Chris Arentsen with Bullet Proof Secret for Sherri Baker. The Reserve Champion was Andrew Staton with Xpectations for Amy Jo Erhardt. Third was Buddy Laney with FG Dignitary for Gary or Linda Gordon.
The winner of the Weanling Fillies class was Buddy Laney with FG My Lady for Gary or Linda Gordon. Reserve was Tom Robertson with Baewatch for Warren English. Third was Ted Turner with Shh Don’t Tell for Beck Farms.
Next up are the DIY classes. These classes have been specifically designed for the DIY exhibitor in mind and all work with the horse must have been done by the exhibitor with no assistance from a trainer (for 90 days before the show). There are additional rules regarding eligibility concerning previous class placings at the futurity and World Championship placings.
