Redbud Spectacular Kicks Off Today in OKC!

Like the show’s motto says, the Redbud Spectacular is “a whirlwind of a horse show!” Offering eight sets of AQHA points, the Redbud Spectacular will host the following judges:

All Around Judges-

Milt Alderman, Pierre Briere, Dolly Chayer, Jeff Greaves, Bob Kail, Jennifer Leckey, Lisa Moden, Scott Neuman, Mark Russell, Chris Thompson

Specialized Judges-

Chris Arentsen, Chris Benedict, Don Boyd, Jeff Carney, Rick Chair, Kim Hall, Justin Johnson, Jeff Petska, Fielding “Bozo” Rogers, Jocelyn Dee Thomas

The event kicks off today, June 1st, in Oklahoma City and will continue through June 11th. Be sure to attend the Welcome Party this evening with wine tasting and hors d’oeuvres at 6:00 pm in the Super Barn. On Tuesday, June 6th, gather at 8:00 pm in the Super Barn for the always fun Progressive Dinner Party. During the party, the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Youth Association is hosting the second annual Youth-Trainer Leadline event where competitors will wear their most creative costumes in hopes of taking home fun prizes.

FullSizeRender copy 2A special event taking place at the show is the Ranch Riding Challenge with $5,000 added money. Events will include Conformation, Ranch Reining, Ranch Riding, and Ranch Reining with open, amateur, and youth divisions. $500 in added money will be up for grabs in each performance class, each division. Custom Mike Edwards Spurs will be presented to the Overall Open, Amateur, and Youth winners.

On Saturday, June 3rd, join Rein In Cancer for a special benefit at Remington Park. The event will include the $1 Million Heritage Place Futurity. Races start at 5:00 pm. There will be dinner in the Eclipse Restaurant. Enjoy free admission and free valet parking. There will be a Live Auction and Raffle Auction. A Hunter Derby will be held during the show with Round 1 and 2 taking place Thursday, June 8th at 8:30 am. For Round 1, there will be at least three option jumps receiving one bonus point each. The top 10 scores from the first round return to the second. Round 2 will be a Handy Hunter Round with the same option for bonus points. The scores from both rounds will be added to determine the winner. There is a $1,000 purse in the Open class, a $500 purse in the Non-Pro class, and a $500 purse in the Low Derby class.

Custom made Gist Silversmith buckles will be presented to the All-Around Open Horse, All-Around Youth 13 and Under, All-Around Youth 14-18, All-Around Amateur, and All-Around Select. Custom Mike Edwards Spurs will be presented to the All Around Small Fry, High Point Open Roper, High Point Amateur Roper, Youth Team Roper, Amateur Team Roper, and Open Team Roper. Shorty’s Caboy Hattery hats will be presented to the All-Around L1 Youth, All-Around L1 Amateur, Reserve All-Around Open, Youth, Amateur and Select. Other prizes include custom wood and leather chairs, grooming supplies by Healthy Hair, Intense EQ, and custom towels.
