This evening’s English classes provided some stiff competition. After five cuts, consisting of 102 entries, a Congress Champion was named in Amateur Hunter Under Saddle. Rebekah Kazakevicius and Not Just Anyhoo claimed their second big win of the Congress. Earlier in the show, they were named the Congress Champions in the NSBA 3-Year-Old Non Pro Hunter Under Saddle Stakes.
“Horton” is a 3-year-old gelding by Hot Ones Only, and Rebekah definitely thinks he favors his father. “He reminds me of his sire with his trot, definitely, and his presence in the arena,” she says. “I went for it a little more in the finals than I did in my split, and I really tried to show off his trot. I wanted to practice like I will be showing at the World Show.”
To have a three-year-old that can win the Non-Pro Futurity unanimously and then receive three firsts and one second place finish in a tough Amateur Hunter Under Saddle class is a positive sign for Horton’s future show career. “It’s really exciting for a three-year-old,” she says. “It’s pretty awesome, because it’s the first Congress I’ve shown him in the amateur division. I went in with no expectations, because I had such a great ride in the three-year-old futurity. I wanted to go in and have fun, but still show and see where we’re at leading up to November.”
This Saturday, Beth Case will ride Horton in the finals of the 3-Year-Old Open Hunter Under Saddle. Then, Horton will get a much deserved break before he heads to Oklahoma City this fall to compete in Amateur and Junior Hunter Under Saddle at the AQHA World Show.
The Reserve Champion in the class was Peyton Bivins with Kamanyawannadance. Third place was Lindsey Gillette with One Hot Katwoman. Fourth place was Amy Smith with Red Carpet Rita. Fifth place was Sydney Bishop with BMQ All Star Design.
Sixth place was Nicole Kuklinski with Dancin In My Sleep. Seventh place was Alexandra Chavez with Only In Showbiz. Eighth place was Elizabeth Juette with Huntified. Ninth place was Shelly Boyle with Put Your Spurs On. Tenth place was Rebecca Fussell with Good Ridin Machine.
