Quincy Clagg and Wimpys Color Code Take Championship in the Youth 13 & Under Ranch Riding at the 2024 All American Quarter Horse Congress

By Sarah Welk Baynum

Quincy Clagg rode Wimpys Color Code, known as “Rock” around the barn, to the Championship title late last week at Congress.

“I’ve had him for two years, and we call him our Barbie Dream Horse because he’s so pretty! He definitely knows he’s pretty, too. He’s struts around, but he’s so smooth. I knew he was special the first time I rode him. I could tell he was going to be something!” says Clagg.

This is their first Championship title together, though.

“I’ve been close on him at the Anchorage YA World Tour. I was maybe fifth that show. But now, his time came! He kind of put it all together today,” says Clagg.

Clagg rode another horse in the class before competing with Rock, which helped her really nail her pattern the second time.

“My serpentines were correct and good when I rode Rock. My lead change was pretty good, too. On the first horse I rode the pattern with, my pattern placement wasn’t as good, but I redeemed myself on this one!”

Clagg hopes Rock will be her 14-18 class horse in the near future for a number of Ranch classes.

“I show him in the ranch riding, ranch trail, and sometimes he’s my rail horse depending on the show and the day. I love doing the ranch riding classes, because they flow well, everybody’s so nice, and it’s just a fun environment to be in. Hopefully he’ll be my 14-18 horse for a little while, and I’m excited to see what else he has in store!” adds Clagg.
