Earlier this week, we had the chance to chat with representatives at the Pinto Horse Association who were eager to spread the news about an innovative new program they will be unveiling at the upcoming 2014 Pinto World Championship Show, which is scheduled to take place June 9-21 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Brand new for 2014, competitors will have the opportunity to request show numbers in the 5,000 level range which will be used to indicate that a horse competing at the Pinto World Show is for sale. The back numbers will cost $100, and accompanying forms and back numbers may be picked up upon check in at the World Show.

Although full details aren’t set in stone just yet, we were able to have a PtHA representative answer a few of our questions about this innovative sale strategy.

Q. Are these just like regular back numbers for competing horses except that any horse in the 5,000 range will be for sale?

A. “As far as I know, they will be regular back numbers that you can ‘upgrade’ to. Any horse in the 5,000 range will be for sale.”

Q. Will there be an accompanying premium book or listing where people can look up information about the horses in the 5,000 range?

A.  “I don’t believe there will be a book or listing with info on the horses themselves, but we will provide contact and stall information at the show office and on the PWC website for interested buyers to get in contact with the sellers.”

Q. Will there be an actual sale per say, or is this merely a convenience to connect horses with prospective buyers?

A. “There will not be an actual sale. It will just be a convenience to help sellers advertise the horses while they are in action.”

What a perfectly simple, yet effective, means of allowing interested buyers to observe horses, that are for sale, while they are competing during a World Championship-level event!

Is this something you would like to see implemented at other major breed shows or World Championship caliber events?
