PtHA Exhibitors of the Month- Renee Stouffer and Skylar Young

StoufferPtHA

Wrangler Exhibitor of the Month

The Wrangler Exhibitor of the Month is Renee Stouffer from Nickerson, Nebraska. Stouffer started showing horses in 4-H when she was 12 years old, competing in local and state 4-H shows. Stouffer was not around horses much after high school and quite showing until roughly 15 years ago when she moved to some land and was able to have her own horses and began showing again. In 2015, she started to compete at the Nebraska Pinto Shows.

When describing her horse’s personality, Stouffer said, “WA Full Flash Gordan, aka Bart, is such a spunky, little guy. Although he only stands 36″ tall, he is very sure he is a big horse in disguise.” Stouffer loves to take Bart for walks on the country roads and even through a nearby neighborhood where he is often mistaken as a strange dog.

The pair compete in Halter, Color, Showmanship, and In Hand Trail. “My goal is to train Bart to pull a cart and compete in some Driving classes,” Stouffer said.

When asked what she loves about showing her horse, Stouffer said, “Showing my horse gives me an opportunity to find out how our training is coming along. The show atmosphere is different than at home, and I’m able to see how we both react to the sights and sounds of a horse show.” They also enjoy the opportunity to spend time with their horse friends and family.

Every month, PtHA will randomly select an exhibitor to be featured in the monthly PtHA eNews and on the official FB page. Wrangler, one of PtHA’s Corporate Sponsors, will be hosting the “Wrangler Exhibitor fo the Month” contest and will be giving a coupon for a free pair of Wrangler jeans to the winner! Check back next month to see who takes home the prize!

LunaFiebing’s Youth Exhibitor of the Month

What is your name? Skylar Young

Where do you live? Twinsburg, Ohio

What is your Pinto’s name? La Bella Luna, aka Eclipse.

How long have you been showing? Skylar has been showing since she was seven years old. “I had never been on a horse before my 6th Birthday party at the barn, and since then has been an unbelievable six years of riding,” said Skylar.

What do you like most about showing your Pinto?

“I like how welcoming my Ohio Pinto ‘family’ has been. My confidence and experience has grown through riding with the older youth division at times and in open classes with adults. I love seeing how versatile Eclipse has become riding both Western and English. Our big goal was to go to the Pinto World Show and see how we could do. We came home with one World Championship in Youth Trail, one Reserve Championship in Youth Pleasure Type Western Horsemanship, five Top Five, and six Top Ten placings, and we won the Jr. Youth Zone Invitational saddle. It was an amazing experience just to be there!” Skylar said.

What is your favorite class to compete in and why?

“I will always love Western Pleasure, but it’s been fun to see us do well in Ideal and Bareback Western Horsemanship. Eclipse used to be a Barrel Racer, so our years of hard work are showing how well she’s transformed into a wonderful pleasure horse,” Skylar said.

What is the funniest thing your Pinto has done?

“Our first show of the season, we had competed most of our Showmanship pattern, set up for inspection, and then Eclipse managed to poop through an entire 270 degree turn. The judges had to take a step back not to get pooped on and tried not to laugh. She stuck her pivot and continued like no big deal,” Skylar said.

Every month, Fiebing’s, one of PtHA’s Corporate Sponsors, will be hosting the “Fiebing’s Youth Exhibitor of the Month” contest. If you show in any PtHA approved weekend show and are a PtHA youth member, you will automatically be entered in a drawing for a chance to win a bottle of Fiebing’s 4-Way Care and one bottle of Fiebing’s Blue Frost. Then, you will be featured right in the monthly PtHA eNews and on the official Pinto FB page. Fiebing’s Company has been manufacturing high quality leather care and horse care products in Milwaukee, Wisconsin since 1895.
