The Pennsylvania Quarter Horse Association wrapped up the 2017 show season with the Nittany Classic and Futurity show. Despite the wet and unusually cold temperatures, it turned out to be a great show. We are always thankful for a great group of horses, exhibitors, staff, and volunteers.
“Our hearts were warmed by the generosity of so many people making donations of items that we collected at our show to be shipped to Texas. Thank you to all that organized and supported this very special donation project during our show,” says Carla Weaver, PQHA President.
Even with the inclement weather, the indoor arena provided exhibitors the opportunity to show their horses. The show ended up with almost 650 entries per judge plus an increase in Futurity entries.

Cayce Miller, PQHA Futurity Chairman says, “Although our weekend was wet and cold, we had a good turnout to the PQHA Futurity classes with an increase in entries due to the interest in our newest classes: 3 and 4-Year-Old Ranch Riding and 3 and 4-Year-Old Trail. We were able to award $9,975 in cash and prizes, thanks to our generous sponsors. We would like to thank all of the exhibitors who helped make the 2017 PQHA Futurities a success! We look forward to seeing everyone in 2018.”
2017 Futurity sponsors were: Lester Specht Trucking; Three Oaks Quarter Horses; Circle M Training Center; Specht Performance Horses; AE Photography, and Penn State University.
The PQHA Series Champions were also awarded in seven classes. These champions were required to show to all 14 judges at the three PQHA show circuits. Winners were awarded $250 cash and a beautiful trophy. These awards were also made possible thanks to the generosity of our sponsors.
An Exhibitors’ Dinner was provided on Saturday evening by PQHA to thank everyone for their support in 2017.
