Only a truly dedicated horse show mom would enjoy attending a horse show on Mother’s Day. That’s exactly what a large group of mothers did when they attended the Oklahoma Paint Horse Club’s Warmup For the World Show over the weekend. They traded in visions of breakfast in bed or a delightful brunch for a 6:00 am wakeup call and a last minute Starbucks run on the way to the show grounds.
To show their appreciation to this devoted group of ladies, the Oklahoma Paint Horse Club presented red roses to every horse show mom and served a delicious Mother’s Day cake in between classes. On Saturday evening, a wonderful group of horse show moms repaid the favor by sharing a homemade fried chicken dinner complete with all the fixins’ with the hardworking show staff. Show management would like to thank the talented and generous cooks of the tasty meal including Becky Munsell, Pam Rushing, Mrs Rees, and Kathy Ketner.
Another fun bonus came for exhibitors in the form of two free stall drawings. Because Tracy Albert reserved her stalls before the deadline, her name was one of those chosen to receive a free stall. The other stall winner, Wendy Reiger, had her name drawn because she utilized the electronic entry system.
Aside from the Mother’s Day festivities, there was a horse show to attend to! Saturday had 107 horses entered in APHA classes and 29 entered in all breed classes, which resulted in over 500 entries. The Sunday show had 102 horses entered in APHA classes and 21 entered in All Breed classes, which resulted in 452 total entries. That resulted in approximately 952 entries for the two day horse show. Judges for Saturday were Keith and Nikki Longacre. Judges for Sunday were Roger LeVick and Deb Jarvis.
