The AQHA Region 1 Championship Show took place August 14-18 and was hosted by the Washington State Quarter Horse Association at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe, WA. Judges were Brad Gibby, Buddy Fisher and Mike Weaver.
This was the largest Region 1 Show yet, with over 1,000 AQHA entries. The largest classes were Novice Amateur Showmanship with 35 and Novice Amateur Western Pleasure with 30. The Novice Youth 14-18 splits were also good-sized with 20+ exhibitors.
Not only did exhibitors have the chance to win over $100,000 in prizes, show management also ran a concurrent triple-judged AQHA pointed show. We attribute the growth this year to offering the three-judge concurrent show and to people trying to qualify for the AQHA Novice Championship.
Overall, it was a great show with a full slate of classes including cattle events. We also had a Cowboy Mounted Shooting demonstration and an AQHA Trail Challenge event.
