More “Novice Select” Classes Added to 2016 Iowa Show Circuit, as Well as Great Awards on Novice Day!

In 2015, ISC added Novice Select Amateur Western Pleasure and Horsemanship. The popularity of those classes in the first year has led to adding two more Novice Select classes for 2016 – Trail and Showmanship. The Novice Select Amateur seems to be a growing segment at Quarter Horse shows and ISC shifts as our exhibitors change.

A start time for this clinic will be published soon so those wanting to take advantage of it can make their arrival plans accordingly.”

The Southeast Paint Horse Championship returned with a bang in 2016, taking place at the Zone 9 Southern Classic February 19–21 in Jacksonville, Florida. With a full complement of classes, exhibitors participated in a variety of Youth, Amateur and Open classes for expanded recognition.

APHA Announces Top 20 Shows For 2015

Taking the No. 1 spot for the seventh time in nine years was the Western Regional Zone 2 Zone Show, which took place May 21–22 in South Jordan, Utah. In 2015, the Utah Paint Horse Club-sponsored show attracted 1,110 entries to the six-judge event, which was also followed by a four-judge competition that also had nearly 1,000 entries.

They say the apple doesn’t fall from the tree, and the APHA Breeders’ Trust top-earners rankings for 2015 certainly reflect that notion. Zippos Sensation ruled the roost as the Breeders’ Trust Leading Sire for the 15th consecutive year; his son, Nighttime Sensation, took the lead as the 2015 Breeders’ Trust Top-Earning Horse.

While many enjoyed Easter egg hunts or an elaborate Easter feast, others traveled to Lake St. Louis, MO. for the 2016 March To The Arch Horse Show this past Easter weekend. Held annually as an entirely charitable event, the March To The Arch relies on the support and generosity of show sponsors, judges, show staff, and ring crew, who all donate their time in an effort to raise the most money possible for cancer research.

Beginning in 2016, new rules are in effect allowing a three-year-old snaffle bit western pleasure or hunter under saddle horse to be shown in other classes in an acceptable curb bit and remain eligible to compete in the snaffle bit/ bosal western pleasure or hunter under saddle classes.
