Over the weekend, AQHA competitors gathered in Perry, GA for the dual-event of the GQHA Classic and NSBA Riders’ Cup. Judges for the GQHA Classic were Sissy Anderson, Valerie Kearns, Jonathan Meilleur, Jon Barry, Chad Evans, and Kelly McDowall. Rider’s Cup Judges were Brett Clark, Rhonda Replogle and Cindy Rucker.

The first Futurity champions were crowned today in an exciting finals which filled the day in Oklahoma City. With an impressive ride, Jack Medows piloted Chicsdreamofdiamonds (Magnum Chic Dream x Princess In Diamonds) as draw 31 out of a field of 32 to a score of 218.5. The duo claimed the title of Cinch NRHA Non Pro Level (L)4 Champion as well as the Youth Non Pro Championship.

APHA Changes Fees For 2017

APHA will end a decades-long fee for those using shipped semen. The association’s Executive Committee voted to eliminate the $100 transported cooled/frozen semen permit fee and, earlier this year, voted to lower the cost of entry into APHA’s Breeders’ Trust incentive program as a way of rewarding breeders for their commitment to breeding Paint Horses.
