2017 AQHA Standing Committee Reports Now Available

– AQHA Judges Committee-
The Executive Committee approved an amendment to rule SHW911.6 to read as follows: At all shows where there is an official videographer, judges will be allowed to review “all major and/or severe penalties of two points or more, excluding marker penalties in the reining and the reined work portion of working cow horse as long as one (1) judge has called a penalty.” The Executive Committee also approved the creation of a judges task force to create guidelines for self-monitoring among judges.

“I think the Level 1 classes should be used as a stepping stone to progress a person’s showing ability. Just being able to show up to a Championship show doesn’t seem to be promoting people’s progression or helping the numbers at weekend horse shows.”

The fun kicked off on Wednesday, when competitors were encouraged to bid for lucky back number #777 with all proceeds to benefit the AQHA Foundation Crisis Fund. The high bidder was Nancy Chapman. The Lucky 7 Classic decided to match the bid, resulting in $2,200 raised for the Crisis Fund!

Thanks to Scott Jones, David Miller, and Sabrina Janis for some great photos from their adventures at the 143rd running of the Kentucky Derby! Dressed in fancy fascinators and coordinating bow ties, the group enjoyed mint juleps while watching Always Dreaming and Johnny Velasquez cross the finish line to win the “The Run For the Roses” for trainer Todd Pletcher.
