Continue reading …Hanson grew up with horses her entire life, learning from her father, Don Blazer. She competed as a youth and fell in love with the American Quarter Horse. She was drawn to their athleticism and heart. Hanson showed in the open division as a youth, and earned the title of AQHA reserve world champion in western riding in 1988 aboard the mare Lo Lindo.

None of us wanted the pressure of point chasing. That takes the fun out of why we really enjoy showing. In fact, my mom and Virginia didn’t even let me know that I was leading until after the Congress. That’s when we all sat down and looked at the points and said, ‘Wow, this might happen.'”
