Continue reading …Each horse and rider team was paired up with a partner to see who could ride the fastest, and smoothest, without spilling a drop. Riders made their way down the arena where they had to hand off the mimosa to their partner, who then had to ride back to get to the finish line.

That week would also see 15 members of the Livestock Herd Health Service and the Livestock Medicine Service join the efforts at the Sonoma and Solano County Fairgrounds and the Napa High School Vintage Farm evacuation centers.

Whether this be a button-up, a classy suit, or a fancy whip stitched hat (hats with whipstitch are a favorite of mine!). I love seeing these current trends because they create more self-expression and individuality in the show pen!

There were a whopping 33 competitors in L1 Youth Horsemanship, 30 in 14-18 Horsemanship, and 27 in L1 Youth Showmanship.
Continue reading …Nancy Sue purchased Mag’s grandmother, a Thoroughbred named Wahoo Baby, for $900 at a kill sale back in the 1990s. Years later, that mare’s offspring have gone on to earn in excess of $500,000. One of those offspring was Luke Whoo, a mare that would provide Nancy Sue with a very special colt she describes as her favorite.

The 2017 Don Burt Professional Horseman of the Year is Dan Trein of Seville, Ohio. Trein has served AQHA for more than 60 years in a number of capacities including coach, judge and volunteer. He has dedicated his time to bettering the breed and the members of the Association. During Trein’s time as a judge, he has judged the Lucas Oil World four times; the AQHA Select World Championship Show, presented by Adequan® (polysulfated glycosaminoglycan); and the National Snaffle Bit Association World Show.
