The FDACS has temporarily suspended the intrastate movement requirements for the transportation of animals from the areas expected to be impacted by Hurricane Irma. These horses are an important part of our family and we want to do our best to make sure they are safe. This time, we’re seeking shelter inland and evacuating 7 horses to the Florida Horse Park. A grass hay with under 10% sugar (ESC) and starch combined, protein 9+% can usually be fed at a rate of 1.5% of current body weight or 2% of ideal body weight, whichever is larger, to achieve the desired weight.
