Our sincerest condolences go out to Richland Ranch and the countless fans of AQHA stallion, Zippos Mr Good Bar, who, we have been informed, passed away July 22nd.

Born March 22nd, 1984, Zippos Mr Good Bar was the 15.2 hand red roan stallion by the legendary Zippo Pine Bar and out of Tamara Wes. A Reserve Congress Champion in Western Pleasure in his own right and a NSBA Hall of Fame inductee, Zippos Mr Good Bar recorded offspring earnings in excess of $1,600,000, foaled numerous World and Congress Champion earners, and is one of the Top 10 All Time Leading NSBA and AQHA sires.

With the recent passing of APHA great, Zippos Sensation, and now this AQHA legend, this is a sad month for the horse industry indeed.

The acclaim of Zippos Mr Good Bar was well-known, as evident in this Equine Chronicle article from 2012, “What Horse Would You Breed?”

Below is an excerpt:

(Equine Chronicle, 2012)

“In this article, we asked active AQHA and APHA exhibitors and judges to describe the distinctive personality traits of their past and present show horses in relation to their breeding, what they contemplate of the breeding industry’s trends, and what horse they would breed among today’s nuanced standards, if they could choose any two horses, deceased or present. We received a variety of answers that vividly recollect the past great ones and more imaginatively, the future legends.”

Of the eight people interviewed, three had some very nice things to say about the late Zippos Mr Good Bar.

Dr. Candice Hall- “My favorite stallion of all time would have to be Zippos Mr Good Bar because he sired A Good Machine and Good Version, which eventually resulted in my horse of a lifetime, Machine Made. He has sired many other great show horses, including my favorite mare, Vital Signs Are Good.”

Mark Stevens– “[Zippos Mr Good Bar] This stud has sired so many horses of vast talents, and his foals also produce – both stallions and mares alike. The mare, Vital Signs Are Good, is a great example of the above statement.”

Michelle Bauer–  “For a stallion, I would say Zippo Pine Bar [Zippos Mr Good Bar’s father] is my favorite for his amazing production record, and my favorite mare would probably be Zizzles Hot Impulse, the 2008 Congress Champion in Youth 13 & Under Western Pleasure, for her amazing cadence and self-carriage.”
