Remembering Donald E. Clason- Jan. 10, 1932- Feb. 7, 2014

Don Clason died suddenly on Feb. 7th. His great heart finally gave out. Don threw his heart and soul into every endeavor. Born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, he had a lifelong love of horses. He served as president of Central States Horse Show Association, president of The Ohio Quarter Horse Association, a national director of the American Quarter Horse Association and Show Manager and chairman of the All American Quarter Horse Congress, the world’s largest single breed horse show.

Don was a proud member of the USMC, where he earned two medals. He retired to Sarasota after 25 years with NCR, retiring as Vice President of Finance. Don enjoyed his Florida retirement, his many friends at the Longview Society, and his fellow Red Cross Board Members.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mimi and children, Hank of Medina, OH, Tami Mahoney of Bridger, MT, Dana Kalal of Southlake, TX and Gigi Gernand of Mooresville, IN. Don also had eight grandchildren, whom he adored.

He was one of the good guys who will be missed by all who knew him. At this time, it is anticipated that funeral services will be in Sarasota and limited to the family.

Condolences can be send to:
