When a lifetime of love of the horse and years of refining a breeding program comes to fruition, it’s time to let that achievement shine.
In the case of Headley Quarter Horses, that particular ray of sunshine is named Rumerz Voodoo, a 2019 chestnut AQHA mare by Rumerz and out of Exquisite Secret, by The Top Secret. “Mera” was raised by Steve and Kathy Headley, and their daughter, Sarah, and the barn name “Mera” was chosen by grandson Cole Headley, Kathy reveals. “He was very into Aquaman at the time, and she was born on his birthday, so we let him decide on the name.”
Headley Quarter Horses, known industrywide as a family business, raised both Mera and her mother, Exquisite Secret (Scarlet), as well as having owned her grandmother, Sheza Hot Touch. “Her line has been a strong part of our program,” explains Sarah, who foaled out Mera.
That same cross produced Exquisite Rumerz, aka “Bonnie,” in 2017, a chestnut mare who Kathy says has done very well for the Headleys by winning a World Championship and a Congress Championship in Open Performance Halter Mares, and titles of Superior Halter, Superior Amateur Halter, Open Perf. ROM, ROM Halter, and ROM Amateur Halter. Both mares, says Sarah, are “super sweet, pretty, and in your pocket.”
