When Vincent Van Gogh said, “For the great doesn’t happen through impulse alone and is a succession of little things that are brought together,” his words were reminiscent of creating a masterful work of art.
The creation of a masterpiece of a horse consists of all those little things as well, and for Coool Hand Luke, a 2021 AQHA gelding by Hay Goodlookn and out of OnlyGoodTilMidnight, his journey to the show pen has consisted of a succession of undeniably special occurrences.
Not only did Morgan Miller purchase the striking gelding, “Wylie,”–an almost mirror image of his sire, Hay Goodlookn–but he also happens to be the first foal Andy and Katie Cochran have raised together with their breeding venture partners and Katie’s parents, Larry and Jeannette Buff.
Wylie came to be as a cross of “Gus,” a 2017 AQHA World and Congress Champion stallion by Invitation Only and out of Whatscookngoodlookin, and OnlyGoodTilMidnight, an AQHA Congress and World Champion mare by Zippos Mr Goodbar and out of Krymsuns Only Chip (Invitation Only).
