Exhibitors from all around came to the Ohio Michigan Indiana Quarter Horse Association’s April show. The show began on Saturday, April 14th at 8 am with Showmanship classes containing entries in the upper 30s to mid 40s. The numbers remained in this range all through the day, even with the rain.
While some horses (and people) were not fond of the “wonderful” Ohio weather, they didn’t let it phase them. After all, the show must go on! The show was long and tiring, but the staff, judges, and exhibitors all remained pleasant and remembered that we were all there to have fun and show all the hard work we have put in over the- what seems to never end- winter.
The OMI Queen, Fallyn Harkin, was at the show meeting, chatting, helping, and passing out awards to the members. When asked what she thought was the highlight of the show she says, “There were many highlights to the OMIQHA Warm-up Show! There was a great turnout with eager equestrians ready to start the show season! My favorite part was seeing the leadline kids giving their all in the pen, with smiles on their faces!” Next time you see this beautiful young lady, make sure to stop her and say hi! She would love to meet more exhibitors and chat!
The show resumed on Sunday, April 15th with great numbers yet again in the 30-40 range. To no surprise, Mother Nature was shedding some tears, and we all felt it, (literally speaking, of course.) There were plenty of shirts, hats, pants, and boots that were soaked! However, the exhibitors didn’t buckle to these conditions. The Showmanship horses set up, the Horsemanship horses spun, the Hunter Under Saddle horses trotted big, and the Western Pleasure horses loped pretty. All in all, the show went well, the classes were great, people were kind, and, most importantly, the show was fun!
