Coming off a Reserve Championship finish last year, Olivia Tordoff and Too Blazin Cool were hoping to improve upon their performance tonight in the Hunter Under Saddle finals at the 2017 AQHA Youth World Show. “We really wanted to have the horse more prepared, and we have another year under our belt, so that helped.”
Olivia and “Willy” have had great success as a team, winning five Quarter Horse Congress titles and an NSBA World Championship last year. Now that their Youth World Show journey in 2017 is complete, they are headed to both events this fall.
Earlier in the show, Olivia rode Sterling Version to win Horsemanship and her first golden globe. Scoring a second big win is almost unbelievable for this talented, young rider. Although she loves competing with both horses, they couldn’t be more different.
“He’s way different than Sterling. Sterling is actually quite difficult to show; whereas, Willy, when he’s prepared, is quite easy to show. You can just sit up there and pilot him around. It’s easy and fun. I really enjoy showing him. Everything is a little more intense with Sterling.”
Next year, Olivia is looking forward to expanding Willys’ repertoire of skills to include Equitation and possibly Western Riding. “Next year, he might turn into more of an Equitation horse. He has an incredible lead change. I’m really looking forward to seeing what he can do.”
