Dean York of Symsonia, Kentucky, and Spanish Dawns Dude were named the 2016 Nutrena Senior Athletes of the Show at AQHA Select World Championship Show, presented by Adequan® (polysulfated glycosaminoglycan). AQHA presented the award to York on August 26 at the Tri-State Fairgrounds in Amarillo.
Spanish Dawns Dude is a 1993 chestnut gelding by Spanish Desperado and out of Texijuanas Dawn by Samson T Dude. The pair showed in team penning and ranch sorting. York and Spanish Dawns Dude placed eighth in ranch sorting, along with his wife, Sharron, who showed Suerte Lena.
AQHA has proudly teamed up with AQHA Corporate Partner Nutrena for this award since 2012. The Nutrena Senior Athletes of the Show award recognizes not only the exhibitors, but their equine partners. The award is presented to the exhibitor and horse with the highest combined age competing at the Adequan® Select world.
York and Spanish Dawns Dude received a prize package that included 500 pounds of Nutrena feed and a plaque specially designed by AQHA’s trophy company, Awards Recognition Concepts.
