The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association Board of Directors (PRCA) just passed new bylaws that will go into effect October 1, 2015. News of the new bylaws comes just a week after members of the new Elite Rodeo Association (ERA) announced they would be cutting back on attending PRCA events in an effort to promote and attend upcoming ERA events.
The PRCA bylaws outline what are considered to be “Competing Rodeo Events,” “Conflicting Rodeo Association Interests,” and how that will affect PRCA membership. Most notably, “any person applying for PRCA membership who is an officer, board member, employee or has an ownership or financial interest of any form in a Conflicting Rodeo Association shall not be issued a membership, permit or renewal of membership with the PRCA.”
Current leadership of the ERA, in particular, includes 21-time World Champion Cowboy Trevor Brazile and 4-time World Champion Bareback Rider Bobby Mote, just to name a few.
