Displays for the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame Class of 2016 were unveiled July 19 in a special ceremony at the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum in Amarillo.

Four men were inducted in March during the 2016 AQHA Convention: AQHA Past President Johannes Oreldinger of Grosswallstadt, Germany; the late Paul Curtner from Jacksboro, Texas; Ben Hudson of Morgan Mill, Texas; and Floyd E “Sunny Jim” Orr of Pueblo, Colroado. Six horses were also inducted: 1961 cutting stallion Mr Gun Smoke, 1949 racing stallion Parker’s Trouble, 1967 racing and show gelding Van Decka, 1954 racing gelding Vandy’s Flash, 1917 racing stallion Zantanon and 1943 Thoroughbred mare Woven Web, also known as Miss Princess.

“I commend the AQHA Hall of Fame Selection Committee for its hard work in making these choices,” said Craig Huffhines, AQHA executive vice president. “I had an opportunity to sit in on the committee and was extremely impressed with the professionalism and hard work from each committee member as they deliberated on these extremely deserving inductees. Induction into the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame is the highest honor possible in our Association, and I look forward to welcoming these deserving individuals into the Hall of Fame.”

On July 19, display cases for the Class of 2016 were unveiled and the inductees, their families and connections were invited to take the first look at the displays at the Hall of Fame. The special displays will remain up for a year at the Hall of Fame in Amarillo. Then, the artifacts will be moved to permanent display cases.
