New APHA Rules Go Into Effect Today

The following seven rule change proposals were passed with early implementation at the 2020 APHA Convention on March 1. Six go into effect April 1, and one goes into effect May 1. Additionally, the elected directorship voted on implementation of new APHA By-Laws, which went into immediate effect as of March 1, 2020.

CONTROL #ART IX-2: Starts May 1
SUMMARY: Changes wording to ensure that APHA Regional Clubs are consistent with maintaining compliance with the APHA by-laws.

CONTROL #JU-000-1: Starts April 1
SUMMARY: Eliminates some restrictions on one and two judge shows in hiring their judges.

CONTROL #RG-095-1: Starts April 1
SUMMARY: Streamlines and updates the requirements and process for horse name changes.

CONTROL #SC-301-1: Starts April 1
SUMMARY: Requires a stool/mounting block be provided for any ranch horse class obstacle in which mounting/unmounting is required.

CONTROL #SC-301-4: Starts April 1
SUMMARY: Provides additional patterns for use in Ranch Reining classes.

CONTROL #SC-305-1: Starts April 1
SUMMARY: This rule allows for any recognized mounted shooting organization and/or event to be eligible for APHA special event approval.

CONTROL #YP-086-1: Starts April 1
SUMMARY: Adds Youth Color Classes as approved APHA classes.
