Morning Wins at APHA World Go to Berry, Smith, Kellerman, Kull, Monsen, and More

It’s been a busy Sunday morning here at the 2016 APHA World Show with numerous World and Futurity Champions crowned and thousands of dollars awarded.

Over in the Watt Arena, the stars of the show today were the dynamic duo of Ramsey and Heather Berry, who won many of the morning’s classes and thousands of dollars in prize money. First, Ramsey led She’s Too Pretty to win BF Platinum Non-Pro Weanling Mares and a check for $11,387. Ramsey and the filly returned for the BF Gold Senior Weanling Mares where they won the class and a $3,195 payday. Ramsey led another homebred foal, Im The Dominator, to win BF Platinum Non-Pro Weanling Stallions and another big check for $10,048. Not to be outdone, Ramsey’s wife, Heather, led Midnight Attraction to win BF Platinum Non-Pro SPB Weanling Stallions and Geldings and $6,220.

Suffice to say, the Berry’s are thrilled with the Breeders’ Futurity program coordinating with Halter classes here at the APHA World. “Hopefully, it will stimulate more people to start breeding,” Heather says. “When someone can spend a $1,500 stud feee, breed their mare, and then come and show their baby and win a $10,000 check, that’s great!”

“It’s awesome doing this on homebred foals,” Ramsey adds. “They’re our own mares and studs, and we do it all ourselves.”

Both the mother and father of She’s Too Pretty, aka “Hartley,” are multiple World Champions, so she’s carrying on her parents’ legacy. (JN Total Attraction X Much Too Pretty). Heather is also quite fond of the couple’s weanling colt, Im The Dominator, (To Be Admired X Just For Sippin) because of his exceptional balance. “He’s so balanced in all three equal parts. He presents everything that you would want in one of these animals.” Ramsey let us in on a little secret about this foal’s lineage. His mother, Just For Sippin, is featured on APHA’s color chart as the red roan example.

Towards the conclusion of Halter classes today, Billy and Suzonne Franks were presented with a special award to honor their stallion, Intensions, as the Highest Money Earning Platinum Breeders’ Futurity Stallion. The get that helped him reach the $36,245 grand total in earnings during the day’s classes include Blue Intensions, Ms Star Intensions, Starlite Intensions, She’s Hell On Heels, Sweet Intensions, Perfect Intensions, and TNR Divine Intension.

Meanwhile, over in the John Justin arena, Candice Monsen led So You Think Im Good to win Novice Amateur Showmanship. The Reserve Champion was Colleen Anfinson with Radically Mezmerized. Third was Megan Rowley with A Chance Romance. Fourth was Michaela Dinger with Painted Up The Assets. Fifth was Gabrielle Covert with Im Fantasized.
