Morning Winners at APHA World Include Evans, Parker, Trueba, Ferguson, Seehafer and More

Olin Parker got off to a fantastic start this morning in the Halter arena here at the 2016 APHA World Championship Show winning three World Championship titles and a Reserve. To kick things off, Olin and Hashtag won Weanling Stallions. Then, he won SPB Weanling Stallions with Big Time Addiction. Next, he won Weanling Geldings with LLR He’s So Cool. Just recently, Olin led Itsallaboutthatbass to a Reserve finish in 2-Year-Old Stallions.

Another gentleman having a fantastic day so far is Cooper Evans, who won both the SPB Yearling In Hand Trail with Living High Class, the Yearling In Hand Trail with Hot N Delicious, and placed third in Yearling In Hand Trail with Infinite Power.

We discovered that Cooper has a personal connection with each of the horses he showed today. “Hot N Delicious is a filly my husband and I raised. Cocoa is by Lopelicious, which is a stud I used to ride. She’s a perfect mix of her mom and her dad. We sold her to my friend, Laura Rogers, from Arizona. She prepared her and did an amazing job. She has done Longe Line and showed her all year. I caught-led her today, and she was amazing.”

Cooper and his husband also raised the third place horse in the class, Infinite Power. “That horse is out of another stud I used to ride, Pleasure Power. We call him Tank. We sold him to Cindy Schrader of Washington. We’re so proud that the first set of foals that we ever raised were first and third.”

Finally, Cooper led Living High Class, aka “Livvie,” to win SPB Yearling Trail. Cooper showed the filly’s mother, Ironing With Class, to win nine World Champion titles, many of which were achieved when the mare was pregnant with Livvie.

“She was kind of hard to get started, because she wanted to get kisses and be spoiled, but she came together perfectly. The owner, Taryn Christensen, worked really hard and helped her become the great horse she is now.”

Yearling In-Hand Trail classes are a relatively new addition to the APHA show scene, and Cooper has been a proponent and exhibitor from the beginning. “I think it teaches confidence and teaches them not to be scared of anything. It also teaches them to be ready for Showmanship. They need to have really good manners, and they have to do all the things they will have to do later in life to be a good all-around horse. This is my fifth year showing in this class and every horse I’ve done it with has gone on to jog and lope over poles with ease and confidence as a two-year-old. They seem wiser and a lot easier to start, because they’ve had so much work done with them.”
