Today’s classes are running by like wildfire here at the NSBA World Championship Show. First up, Keith Miller showed Pretty Assets to win the Maturity Open Hunter Under Saddle for owner, Meghan Tierney. Pretty Assets has quite the track record with numerous Quarter Horse Congress and NSBA World Show wins under her belt. “At the Congress, she’s won the Maturity Open Hunter Under Saddle, 3-Year-Old Hunter Under Saddle, Non-Pro Hunter Under Saddle, Intermediate Non-Pro Hunter Under Saddle, 2-Year-Old Limited Hunter Under Saddle, and the Non Pro Longe Line.”

“She was always our favorite. I remember watching Troy Lehn show her at the Quarter Horse Congress in the 2-Year-Old Hunter Under Saddle and cantering to the right. I just loved her.”

Pretty Assets is just getting back into the show pen this season after spending a little time helping to create the next generation of Hunter Under Saddle specialists. “She flushed three embryos this year by different stallions: A Born Legacy, Its A Southern Thing, and Hot N Blazing.”

Later on in the show, Pretty Assets will show in the Junior Hunter Under Saddle, Non Pro Maturity, and Amateur Hunter Under Saddle.

Aaron Moses

Aaron Moses

Aaron Moses racked up yet another win with It’s A Pretty Thing in the BCF 3-Year-Old Open Western Pleasure, a horse he’s campaigned since January of this year. Moses and “Callie” won the Novice Horse Slot class at the SOQHA Madness, the Novice Horse slot at the Little Futurity, the Novice Horse class at the Tom Powers Futurity, tied to win the Limited Non Pro at the Tom Powers, and won the Open 3-Year-Old, Non-Pro Three-Year-Old, and Novice Horse at the Big A.”

Later on at the show, Callie will compete in the Limited Non Pro Western Pleasure with her owner, Giorgia Medows, as well as the 3-Year-Old World Show Western Pleasure and Novice Horse with Moses. “She has made a really nice horse. She doesn’t have any holes. She’s pretty; she always keeps her ears forward; and she’s very happy.”

Jason English

Jason English

Winning the BCF 3-Year-Old Intermediate Open Western Pleasure was Jason English with Gone Viral for new owner, Kari Craft. Jason has had his eye on this particular horse ever since he was a weanling, and, one way or another, he was going to have him in the barn. “I saw him when he was a weanling and loved him. Then, I saw him when he was a yearling, and I loved him. I didn’t have anyone to buy him, so I had my cousin buy him, and he doesn’t even do horses! One way or another, I was going to have him.”

Gone Viral, aka “Monkey,” has a busy week coming up as he will compete in Green Western Pleasure, 3-Year-Old Non Pro, and 3-Year-Old Novice Horse. This beautiful stallion has a very trendy show name now, but Jason let us in on a little secret that he was actually supposed to be named something entirely different. “His name was going to be Crazy About Lazy, but being a stud, I thought if they shortened it, his named would be Crazy, so I didn’t think that was a good idea!”

Zoey

Zoey Macbeth

In Youth Western Riding, 12-year-old Zoey MacBeth rode Lope The Line to a Reserve Championship finish. They’ve been a team for three years now and currently show under the guidance of Palm Desert Quarter Horses. “We won the Novice Championships in Western Pleasure before, but this is big! I was really happy with my pattern. She was really good. She loves doing Western Riding.”

Winning the class was Natalia Devencenty with Chex Is The Choice, who just came off an exceptional AQHA Youth World Show winning Youth Trail, placing fifth in Western Riding, and sixth in Horsemanship. Natalia says “Chex” is feeling a bit tired after competing in Oklahoma City for two weeks, but a canine scuffle in the stands helped to perk him up a bit during today’s class.

Natalia DeVencenty

“He’s absolutely terrified of dogs. We were jogging over the pole, and there was a dog fight in the stands. They were barking and everything. He was a little bit excited and took off a little quick, but he settled in. It ended up working to our advantage because he was initially a little tired today!”

Later on in the show, Natalia and Chex will compete in Horsemanship and Equitation.

In the BCF 4-6 Year-Old Non Pro Open and Non-Pro Intermediate Western Pleasure, Alex Chavez took the win with Rock County Kid. Alex purchased “Rocky” in January of this year, and this is their third show together. “One time, I showed him when I had a broken foot, and he was still great! He’s the same horse every time you get on him. He’s so consistent. This was awesome. It was our first big win together!”

NatWhile her fellow riders were extending their congratulations in the line up, Alex wasn’t certain she had won until the final placings were announced. “When I’m out there, and they do the placings, I get nervous. Then, I don’t know how I ended up. People were saying congrats, but I didn’t know that I had won until the end!”

Another Chavez is competing here at the NSBA World Show. Alex’s 9-year-old daughter, Dolce, will be showing her horse Valentine Version in Walk-Trot Western Pleasure.
