Morning Halter Wins at 2014 APHA World Show Include Robinett, Miller, Boothe, and Griffin

Kicking off the 2014 APHA World Championship Show in the Watt Arena this morning are the Amateur Stallion and Gelding Halter classes. Several World Champions have already been crowned including Cris Miller, Kenneth Boothe, and Robin Robinett.

First up, Cris Miller led CI Im So Awesome to a win in the Amateur Weanling Geldings class. Paul Vandiver and Magnificent Ikon came in Reserve. Third place was Gary Martin with Predestined A Phoenix. Next, Kenneth Boothe and All My Rowdy Friends were named the World Champions in the Amateur Solid Paint Bred Weanling Stallions and Geldings class. The Reserve Champion was Anita Wiescamp with Hes Seriously Stylin. Third place was Cheryl Vasi with Xtatic.

In the Amateur Yearling Stallions class, Robin Robinett led Cool Addiction to a World Champion finish. Craig Dengate and Grandslam Kid were named the Reserve Champions. Rounding out the top three was Melinda Minnis with WR Game Day.

We caught up with Robin Robinett as she handed “Dexter” over to her horse trainer, JT Mitchell, in order to begin preparations for her next class, 3-Year-Old Geldings. It was clear by Robinett’s happy tears that this win had special meaning.

“I’m emotional just because he’s won so much, and he’s a exceptional stallion prospect,” Robinett says. “We bought him as a baby, and he’s just come on so well. He’s fun to show, and he’s great to be around.”

Dexter is by the AQHA stallion Kid Coolsified and out of an Obvious Prophet mare, so he’s double-papered with both AQHA and APHA. Recently, he was crowned the High Point Stallion at the 2014 Paint Horse Congress and won the Open division of his class at the National Halter Championship. Given his exceptional breeding and success thus far as a yearling, Robinett believes Dexter has serious potential as a future breeding sire.

“He is N/N and his mother has produced, I believe, seven World Champions out of five different stallions, so he will probably go on to become a breeding stallion,” she says.

Yesterday, Robinett showed Cool Secrets N Lace to a Reserve Champion finish in the Amateur 3-Year-Old Mares class. Coming up later today, she will show Well Executed in the Amateur 3-Year-Old Geldings class. Then, it’s on to Oklahoma City for the AQHA World Championship Show.

“I have a weanling AQHA stud colt by Telasecret and out of Fearles Teena; his name is Never Tell A Secret,” Robinett says. “He won the Iowa Breeders Amateur division and was Reserve at the Quarter Horse Congress. I also have a double papered three-year-old gelding named Gamechanger that was Reserve at the Quarter Horse Congress.”

Following Robinett’s win in the Amateur Yearling Stallions class, Sally Griffin led Hes That Cool to a win in Amateur Yearling Geldings. The Reserve Champion was Judy Ford with Thats Redemption. Third place was Kimberly Borcherding with Ill Be Awesome.
