Morning APHA World Winners Include Fortenberry, Heisinger, Heinbuch, Fullerton, Finkenbinder, and More

First up today in Novice Amateur Trail, Simons Show Horses had a big finish claiming the top three spots in the class. Hannah Heinbuch was named the World Champion with Stately Sensation. The Reserve Champion was Pamela Switzer with Zippos Redemption. Third was Ali Eidson with Gametime Sensation. All three of these horses were sired by the late Zippos Sensation.

Anne-Marie Fortenberry won her first World Championship title in the amateur division in Classic Amateur Trail with her horse, The Only Kiss To Envy. The Reserve Champion was Darcie Winiewicz with A Krymsun Legacy. Third was Erin Bradshaw with John Simon. Fourth was Tami Dietrich-Dobbs with Seems Like Heaven. Fifth was Wendy Hull with All Star Sensation.

Just yesterday, Anne-Marie and “Scotty” were named the Reserve Champions in Classic Amateur Showmanship; that was their first time competing as a team in amateur competition. “Literally it’s my first show as an amateur and my second class as an amateur, so I was going to take whatever I could get! I’m just happy to be here, honestly.”

As a sophomore at LSU, Anne-Marie had to take a bit of time off during finals week to compete here at the World Show, but it’s been more than worth it so far. “I needed a break!” she says. “I needed this to de-stress and see my horse, and it’s been worth it! Unfortunately, I have to leave after Western Riding tonight, so that’s my last class.”

Anne-Marie and her 10-year-old gelding, Scotty, have been competing together for the past three years. She says he’s the most fun horse she’s had an opportunity to show because of his happy-go-lucky personality. “The thing about Scotty is he’s very happy to show. He loves his job. You could walk in his stall, and he would probably lick your face off. He’s the happiest horse alive. When he’s in the show pen, his ears are always forward. I think he plusses obstacles for being a very pleasant horse and a pretty mover over the poles.”

“I loved the extended trot serpentine into a right lead. That was my favorite part. I’m pretty sure I was smiling through that whole part. I also loved the spin at the end.”

The lack of individual judges’ placings being announced was nerve-wracking for Anne-Marie, since she had no clue as to where she would end up overall. “I’m very hard on myself, especially in pattern classes. When you’re riding, it never feels as good as people say it looks.”

Clint Fullerton led Only To Be Admired to win 3-Year-Old Mares for owner Cindy Polley of California. “Aubrey” was bred and raised by Cindy, who still refers to the mare as “my little girl.”

“I couldn’t be happier,” she says. “I’m so beyond amazed, because there are some really nice mares out there. She’s always been very pretty and refined, but this year she blew up and became a mature horse.”

Aubrey has previous Top Ten finishes at the APHA World Show, including a seventh place in the amateur division just the other day, but this is her first World Champion title. Later this year, Cindy is hoping to pull a few embryos and develop a cross by her stallion, CNC Giovani, who was also a World Champion as a three-year-old.
