Everyone knows that youth are the future of the industry, and it couldn’t have been more evident while watching the success of two young ladies showing in walk trot today.
First in the lineup for sisters Gracelyn and Aislynn Galyean was the NSBA Youth Walk Trot Western Pleasure All Ages with 14 entries, with Gracelyn showing Vital Lines are Red, and Aislynn showing VS Lady in Red.
When the final results were called, Aislynn had earned a first place overall and Gracelynn had won reserve! It was a special win, considering it was Aislynn’s first time showing in Walk Trot.
Then for the sisters, it was on to the NSBA Youth Walk Trot Small Fry Western Pleasure with 12 riders, this time with Gracelyn and Vital Lines Are Red grabbing the first spot, and Aislynn earning a fourth overall with VS Lady in Red.
What do they have to say about their successful experience?
“It was a special moment for me and my sister to be first and second together. We feel very blessed,” says Gracelyn Galyean.
Aislynn completely agreed, “It felt really good to be able to get to show with my big sister! I had so much fun for my first time,” she says. “Oh, and I love this place!”
However, that wasn’t the end of the day for the Galyean family. Their stallion, VS The Fireman, finished the last class of the day by sweeping a win under all four judges in the NSBA Three Year Old Open Western Pleasure with rider Aaron Moses. Their overall win earned a check for $3494.85!
The Three Year Old Hunter Under Saddle horses showed their stuff today, too, in the NSBA Three Year Old Limited Horse Hunter Under Saddle.
CoolKrymsunLadyLike won top honors with an overall first place, ridden by Beth Case and owned by Knapp Quarter Horse Farm LLC.
Case explains that she’s only been riding “Fancy” for two and a half weeks and bringing her was a last-minute decision. “I brought her home for a week and asked to bring her as a late entry, and her owners said yes. She trots and canters really well, and she was really good today; she didn’t make a mistake! I’m proud of the little red filly.”
