From the NSBA

Mid-week at the Big A circuit at the Georgia International Horse Park in Conyers, Georgia, began with a Trail futurity and ended with two Non-Pro Hunter Under Saddle added money classes.

In the $1,000 Added Three Year Old Open Trail Futurity, Martin Doustou piloted Magically Made to the win for owner Lacey Armstrong, earning a $584.80 paycheck in the first class of the day.

“We bought Calvin as a coming two year old, so we’ve had him about a year and half,” Lacey said. “Beckey Schooler and Todd Yoder bred him, Mallory Menard had him for a while, and we bought him from from Garth, Sonessa and Austin Gooding. I had sold my All Around gelding in 2021, and had been looking for my next horse, and Trail is my favorite class.

“Nick and Carmen Mayabb thought he would be a good horse for my next Amateur horse. They showed him once in Western Pleasure and then started going in Trail at the beginning of the year. I’ve also shown him in Horsemanship, and we will add Western Riding next year. I can’t wait to show him at the NSBA World Show in the Non-Pro Trail.”

The Machine Made gelding has made an impression on Lacey. “Calvin is so kind, and has a really easy-going personality,” she said. “He always tries, he’s really careful and he doesn’t want to get into trouble. He gets great along with Carmen, Nick and Martin since he joined Nick and Carmen a few months ago. At their barn, everyone rides the horses, so they’ve all had a hand in bringing him along.”

Clean Sweep For Tali Terlizzi and Good Ol Boys Club

Tali Terlizzi and her gelding Good Ol Boys Club swept into the Georgia International Horse Park in Conyers and left Wednesday night with a clean sweep in the Non-Pro Hunter Under Saddle futurity classes. “Peter got here on the grounds yesterday, and I just got in this morning,” Tali said. “I’m only about four hours away, so it was easy for me to get here later. I was home with my kids, they are four and five years old now.”

The judges all agreed that Tali and ‘Perfect Peter’ was at the top of both the $1,250 Added Three and Four Year Old Non-Pro Hunter Under Saddle and the $500 Added Non-Pro Hunter Under Saddle Maturity – and placed Tali and Peter first unanimously in both classes. The team won $930 in the NSBA portion and $500 in the Super Sires portion of the Three and Four Year Old Non-Pro Hunter Under Saddle, and an additional $308 in the Non-Pro Hunter Under Saddle Maturity.

“He’s a dream to show,” Tali said. “He’s just so easy. I had a chance to buy him when Katie Cochran was showing him as a two year old, but we passed on him at that time. Then last year at the NSBA World Show, we had a chance to buy him again, and Jamie English told me that she thought we could make it work, and we have.

“We only got to show him twice last year, and then after some time off, we brought him back out at The Premier and Back To Berrien, and now here. I’ll be splitting my time between showing him and Al Be Bleu in the Amateur Hunter Under Saddle – but he sure is leaning toward the top of my list.”

Good Ol Boys Club is by Good Better Best and out of Shes Immortal (by The Immortal). He was bred and raised by Capital Quarter Horses LLC.

In the $1,000 Added Open Ranch Riding, Clayton Jerrell showed Lets Double Down for owner Wendy McConnell to the win.

The $10,000 Added The American Novice Horse Western Pleasure and the $5,000 Added NSBA Three Year Old Limited Rider Western Pleasure classes that were originally scheduled for Wednesday night have been moved to Saturday due to inclement conditions experienced during Wednesday afternoon’s thunderstorms.

The Big A continues through Sunday, July 9. To view complete show results, please visit the Horse Show Tracker app.
