It was clear by watching the 11 and Under Western Pleasure this afternoon at the Quarter Horse Congress that we have a whole new crop of future Congress Champions in our midst. Taking the top spot in her third class of the horse show was Giorgia Grace Medows with OK Pulse Me. Earlier in the show, Medows was named the Congress Champion in Novice Youth 13 and Under Western Riding and 11 and Under Horsemanship.
“It was totally unexpected,” Medows says. “I was just expecting to go out and do my best, like I did in all of my classes. Whenever they called out that first card, I was totally shocked. I got three firsts and a second!”
“Trooper was so good. It was so crowded in the finals, and everyone was passing on both sides, but he was right there with me. He stayed slow, tried not to mind, and just did his job.”
For Reserve Congress Champion, Millie Anderson, this was a brand new experience showing Perfect Chex, aka “Goober,” for the very first time.
“I just started riding him this summer,” she says. “This was my first time showing him! We didn’t have the best practice, I wasn’t being Millie, but he was good in the finals.”
Anderson also has an all-around horse, Justa Zippo, that she will be showing in Showmanship in the coming days.
We would like to congratulate all of these talented youngsters on spectacular performances here at the Congress!
