The 2018 Martinganza Quarter Horse Show and Futurity kicks off today in Williamston, North Carolina and will continue through April 8th with judges: Sissy Anderson, GiGi Bailey, Cynthia Rucker, Tim Finkenbinder, Bob Johnson, and Tom Robertson officiating the five-day event that’s put on by the District IV North Carolina Quarter Horse Association.
In 2017, the show boasted over 6,700 entries, and this year’s event is shaping up to be on track for some impressive numbers as well. Due to popular demand, The Equine Chronicle Exhibitors’ Party, complete with the mechanical bull and DJ, is back! The party will take place tomorrow evening, complete with dinner that will be served in the main arena following the show. Please pick up your dinner tickets by 9 am on Friday morning.
In addition to a full schedule of classes, there are several fun events planned, like the Bareback Equitation Jackpot on Friday. Western or English attire is permitted. The entry fee is $35 and $25 will be jackpotted. Also, join in on the fun during the Bridleless Pleasure Jackpot on Friday with the same $35 entry fee and $25 jackpot.
New for 2018, Tim Kimura has joined the show to provide his challenging Trail patterns. Also, Halter and Showmanship classes will run on Saturday with two separate goes.
Also, during the show, the NC Amateur Quarter Horse Association will be holding a Used Show Clothing Sale as a fundraiser. You can help out by either donating or consigning used show clothing and horse-related apparel. The booth will be located across from the cafe in the coliseum. Items will also be accepted at the Tarheel Triple Classic on June 13, 2018 in Raleigh.
Did you know that the Martinganza proves partial funding for the Equine Technology Program at Martin Community College? It’s the only public two-year equine studies program in North Carolina, so come out to the show and help our youth!
Stay tuned for photos and results coming soon.
