NCHA press release

As the last weekend of the 2014 NCHA Futurity approaches, more and more spectators are arriving in Fort Worth getting geared up to watch the finals that will take place during the last few days. During this time, the industry’s top 3-year-old cutting horses that have been piloted by their riders through rigorous go rounds will have their shot at the World’s largest cutting payout of $3.9 million. The nearly sold out headline event, the Open finals, will take place on Dec. 13 and will award the winner $200,000!

Also taking place during the Open Finals, Emily Crews a 17-year-old cancer patient will have her wish of riding a cutting horse granted. She will ride to the herd following the first set of the Open competitors, and a piece of her own artwork will be auctioned off following her performance with proceeds to benefit Western Wishes and her family.

The NCHA Futurity also includes the Best of the West Trade Show where hundreds of unique vendors encompass more than 100,000 square feet of the Amon G. Carter Exhibit Hall, located right next to the Will Rogers Coliseum. Quality tack, exquisite jewelry, home décor, clothing and more bring visitors and locals alike just in time for the perfect holiday shopping experience.

“The Futurity is the pinnacle event of the cutting horse industry,” said NCHA Executive Director Jim Bret Campbell. “This is what trainers, owners, breeders and non-pro and amateur riders work toward every year. No other equine event can compare to the NCHA World Championship Futurity. The purse money, the talent, the crowds, the anticipation of what these 3-year-old horses will do during their big debut are all contributing factors to the exhilarating environment that’s delivered on finals night. We’re looking forward to crowning this year’s NCHA Futurity Champion.”
