During what was a history-making weekend in Williamston, NC., the Martinganza Futurity and Quarter Horse Show saw its largest event to date. The show recorded over 6,700+ entries in just four days. Judges for the show were Patti Campbell, Lisa Moden, Jennifer Thompson, Sara Simons, and Kim Myers.
Check out some of the impressive class counts:
A new addition to the show this year was a Ranch Rail class that saw wonderful participation to the tune of 23 entries in the open division and 17 in the non-pro.
Martinganza representative Susan Daniels was thrilled this with turnout this year and is already considering ways to improve the event for 2018. “It was a WONDERFUL show,” she says. “The Exhibitors’ Party on Friday night was again a huge hit. We fed almost 400 people! We were sold out on hookups and stalls for the fourth year in a row. We’re very appreciative of the exhibitors continuing their support of our Martinganza. We will once again look at our schedule for 2018 and see what we need to do to make any improvements.”
The show also saw the first Grand and Reserve Stallion class it has seen in a very long time. Taking home the big title in Grand Champion Geldings in both open and amateur, under all five judges, was Kim Fullwood with Who Dated Who. “She said that had never happened before! Daniels says. “We had lots of happy stories this past weekend.”
