From NSBA:
Kyle Dougherty showed his wife’s horse, Slow Southern Drawl, in the Pre-Madness NSBA Three Year Old Limited Rider Western Pleasure Futurity, and walked away the champion, earning $894.37 for the win.
“We call her Maybelline,” Kyle said. “She’s by Its A Southern Thing and out of an RL Best Of Sudden mare, RL Sweet And Sudden. Ken and Tracy McDavitt bred her. We bought her at the AQHA World Show last year from Charles and Angie Cannizzaro.”
Maybelline had a “Cover Girl” look that attracted the Doughertys. “We loved her looks, and she has a really great personality,” Kyle said. “She’s a very kind mare. Now that we’ve had her a while, I really like her. She just sets back and does her job, and she’s very consistent. This is just her third horse show. I love that she’s able to go and do Trail and then come back and do the Western Pleasure well.”
Kyle and Ty have All Around plans for Maybelline. “She’s going to be Ty’s next All Around horse,” Kyle explained. “I’m already showing her here at the Madness in Green/Level 1 Junior Trail, and I’m planning to show her in the Three Year Old Trail classes this year.”
