The American Quarter Horse show industry launches the Carol Moore Memorial through the American Quarter Horse Foundation, The American Quarter Horse Journal

Every so often, a person in the American Quarter Horse show industry comes along and becomes one of those people who others universally agree just has a knack for making their mark in a positive, constructive and helpful way. That was the case with longtime AQHA show secretary and industry friend Carol Moore of La Junta, Colorado.

“Carol has been a ‘go-to’ person in the American Quarter Horse show industry for so long and for so many people,” said AQHA President Johnny Trotter of Hereford, Texas. “She just had a way about her and love of doing things for exhibitors that was special and uncommon. She was truly a remarkable lady, and we will miss her.”

Carol died April 1. Read her obituary written by The American Quarter Horse Journal.

“I want to thank everyone for their love, prayers and support,” said Carol’s husband, Don, who continues to stay busy managing shows because, as he said, “that’s what Carol would have wanted.

“Carol lived her life the way she wanted to. She was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother, and a wonderful friend to so many. In the end, her injuries from her stroke were just too much, but she passed peacefully,” Don added.

Since learning of Carol’s death, AQHA has received dozens phone calls, emails, postings, tweets and text messages, asking how Carol could best be remembered.

With the blessing of her family and many extended AQHA family members, the American Quarter Horse show industry is honoring Carol with a lasting tribute through the American Quarter Horse Foundation. The American Quarter Horse Foundation is the philanthropic organization of AQHA.

Friends of Carol have set a goal to raise enough funds to enable the industry to forever memorialize her mark by placing a large granite paver at the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum located in Amarillo, Texas. The museum honors the legends of the American Quarter Horse industry and without question, Carol is legendary to all of us. Her memorial will be placed in the Hall of Fame Plaza.
