In memory of a great uncle:
Many of you have probably been far too busy getting ready for the AQHA Youth World Show to have seen much television coverage of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland last week. I just wanted to give a shout out to my Aunt Kathaleen Wall and Uncle Holly Frost for their generosity. They donated all the cowboy hats the delegates wore in honor of my late Uncle LC Wall from Centerville, Texas.
He was a lifelong cowboy and rancher. After my own father died, my Uncle LC would come out to watch me ride at Mrs. Nancy’s quite often. He always made sure that I was ok. He loved that I was so horse crazy. It was our special bond. He followed me with great pride and care.
When I found out that all those hats I saw on TV were in memory of him, it made me cry, and I wanted to share my Uncle’s story. He was such a proud Texan. I know that would have meant a lot to him, for our state to be representing it’s western heritage. I was sure proud of him seeing that sea of white hats.
My uncle passed away without any warning, one day doing what he loved so much, ranching. God just took him home. I wish he could see all of us showing our horses, representing Texas and our nation at the World Show. He would’ve cheered each of us on. He loved seeing kids sitting up tall in their saddles and working so hard to make their equestrian dreams come true. Like many of you, there wasn’t a day in his life that he wasn’t on a horse’s back.
Trails in Heaven,
