Another horse has conquered AQHA’s ultimate test of versatility.
Ima Regal Choice is the 51st horse in the history of AQHA to become an open Supreme Champion, the rarest recognition possible through AQHA.
The 2007 sorrel stallion is by A Regal Choice and out of Ima Lark by Moon Lark. He was bred by Eduardo Cornelio Caballero of Mexico, and is owned by Michael Smith of Berwick, Louisiana.
Ima Regal Choice made 12 starts on the racetrack with three first-place finishes and earnings of $29,359 before heading to the show pen where he earned points in performance halter stallions, team roping-heading and jumping.
Ima Regal Choice completed his training under the guidance of AQHA Professional Horseman and Team Wrangler member Bobby Lewis of Overbrook, Oklahoma, and AQHA Professional Horseman Jerry Erickson of Sanger, Texas.
The open Supreme Champion title encompasses the versatility and athleticism of the American Quarter Horse. The title requires a horse to have raced and achieved a speed index of at least 90 twice. The horse must also earn at least 40 points in halter and performance classes at five or more AQHA shows, including two grand champion titles.
Before Ima Regal Choice, the most recent open Supreme Champions were Gotta Good Habit and Fly The Red Eye in 2013 and Cartel Caliente in 2010.
